AlphaRoute featured:
- A learning management system that provided LBS and ABE programs with the tools to manage registration for adult literacy students and educators acting as mentors –optional features included recording adult literacy student profiles, conducting online adult literacy student assessment, supporting adult literacy students through online program-based educator-mentors.
- An educator-student support system that included shared student Word Lists, and optional fax, telephone, and email communication supports
- An interactive communication system that included discussion boards, live chat, email, and online courses, and that sustained a growing online community of adult literacy students across Canada
- Self-correcting and educator-assessed learning activities created by LBS and ABE educators across Canada for building reading, writing, numeracy, and computer skills
- Video-streamed American Sign Language for guidance in the Deaf Resources area
- Culturally relevant content in the Native Resources area
- Audio and visual learning supports for activities throughout AlphaRoute
