Moodle, an online course and learning management system (LMS), is a free open-source community-based software package designed using sound pedagogical principles to help educators create effective online learning resources and communities.
AlphaPlus began to use the Moodle LMS in 2007 to host online courses for adult educators and learners interested in trying out online learning. Moodle is one of the training platforms used by AlphaPlus and to date, over 200 adult educators have learned to use Moodle by taking AlphaPlus Moodle training.

AlphaPlus Moodle training opportunities support Ontario adult literacy educators and Employment Ontario partners in exploring and using new technologies.
Our 2011/12 training year was different than in past years.
AlphaPlus upgraded our Moodle 1.9 sites to Moodle 2.1 in July 2011. Although there is much in Moodle 2.1 that is the same as in Moodle 1.9, there are enough significant improvements in site navigation, course file storage and sharing, and user management that cause some people to say that Moodle 2.1 is like a new platform.
In reponse to this platform upgrade, this year we offered Moodle 2.1 Upgrade training to our Moodle training graduates.
We are revamping our Moodle training Introductory and Advanced courses to reflect the Moodle 2.1 platform. We anticipate offering our Introduction to Moodle training course in the Spring of 2012 with the potential of further training offered by the Fall of 2012.
