I believe that many programs are grappling with how to make sure all the bases are covered regarding OALCF. The biggest issue is digesting, developing, revising, modifying, correlating what we already have and making it fit. Much time and energy will be spent doing this, and many programs will do it in isolation. Unfortunately, there are those who will do great work,and be bang on, but won’t feel confident enough to share it.

Here’s hoping that programs will share what they develop, and that funding of projects such as this will come up in the future.

D.3 Experiment and problem-solve to perform multi-step digital tasks: The example used in our guide is :

“Take an online course that requires participants to upload assignments and use collaborative tools, such as discussion boards.”

For this one you need all the above competencies plus the “Manage Learning” and “Engage with Others” ones.

For example, I have a student that has just started an online high school course and that is a huge leap in digital technology for her. In my literacy class, she had only did google searches, email and Facebook, and basic Excel.
The implications of this multi-step integration are left for the me, practitioner, since she is entering the new goal path.
