Labour Education Centre's LBS Class - March 2012

As part of our project on digital literacy, from November 2011 to March 2012, Monika from AlphaPlus had a chance to participate in Labour Education Centre's (LEC) in-house and caregiver Literacy and Basic Skills classes. Participants learned to use online social media tools like Facebook and the class setup their own Facebook page. A class wiki was created for class materials and quizzes. Students learned about e-mail etiquette, how to “safely” remove a USB stick from a computer, how to share documents using online services like Google Docs, how to make better use of search engines and online mapping tools like Google Maps. It was a great and very memorable experience!

Tech Tuesdays face-to-face meeting - February 2012

In February, we hosted our monthly Tech Tuesdays event. This time, one of our Tech Tuesdays members and social media guru, Debbie Horovitch, shared with us how she uses and develops her Twitter connections and how she utilizes social media tools to build a community.
