Agnes is a science professor and program co-ordinator in academic upgrading at Sheridan College, and a chemistry instructor with ACE Distance. She has been a contributor within adult education for 25 years. Throughout her career, Agnes has worked in English as a second language, literacy and post-secondary fields. For the past eight years, she has been teaching online and blended courses, in addition to those delivered face-to-face.
AlphaPlus benefits from Agnes’s experience delivering literacy in Ontario, liaising with provincial government and collaborating with community literacy and employment organizations.
Agnes brings expertise with design and delivery of online learning and implementing technology in the classroom. As a lifelong learner, she is interested in learning new technologies and tools in education and improving the online learning experience for students.
Danielle Thibodeau is an education professional with over ten years of experience in innovative program creation and stakeholder partnership development with a specific focus on issues of access and equity. Currently the Acting Director of the Law in Action Within Schools (LAWS) program, Danielle brings her extensive experience in adult basic education, education policy and the not-for-profit sector to the Board. Her ongoing learning and professional interests include access to education, justice for equity-seeking youth and experiential education.
Elena Jara is the Director of Education for Credit Canada Debt Solutions. She holds a bachelor’s degree from York University and a bankruptcy insolvency certificate from Ryerson University. In 2010, she completed the life and personal coaching program through the YWCA. Throughout her career, Elena has led a number of financial education workshops for colleges, universities and community agencies.
She is credited with helping coordinate Credit Education Week Canada (now in its tenth year) and supported oversight of the Credit Education Week Canada website.
Guillaume is an experienced IT professional who has contributed to many organizations, including the Ontario Ministry of Government and Consumer Services, Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation, TD Bank and MCI/WorldCom. He holds an MBA from the University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Management and a global executive MBA from the University of St. Gallen, Switzerland.
With over 20 years of experience, Guillaume specializes in IT operations management, data centre management and IT infrastructure. In addition, he has managed large IT infrastructures as an IT director for various organizations and is currently an independent IT consultant for the Province of Ontario.
Neera Shukla is the National IT Training Manager at Stikeman Elliott. She has over 15 years of experience in adult learning within the corporate and academic sectors across a variety of industries including: telecommunications, healthcare, pharmaceutical, financial, community services, manufacturing, insurance and now legal. Neera is known for applying her expertise to drive change and deliver results in the spheres of adult education, corporate training and organizational development. The AlphaPlus Board will benefit from Neera’s national and global project experience as well as her exemplary strategic thinking, innovation, business acumen, problem solving and decision making capabilities.
